Elementary Math Tutoring with Miss Erika

Grades K-5<br><br>1:1 support and learning in all math areas. Each session will be tailored to the students’ needs, interests, goals, and learning styles. The materials and resources will come from Montessori, Singapore Math, and Math With Confidence philosophies. This will be open to all learning styles including those with disabilities.<br><br>You will choose the exact date/time of your lesson with the teacher after you process the purchase.

The Map Game: Where Physical Geography meets Science with Miss Meaghan

How do you implement your knowledge of geography while at the same time incorporating the study of civilizations, ecology, and climate? We will learn all about science as it related to geography, learn to create a legend and grid system, and so much more. Topics vary by age and level.<br><br>Fall 2025: 10 weeks, with 2 teacher sick days built in<br>$5 per class session<br><br>Maples/Level 1 (Grades K-2 / ages 5-7) Topics Include: Navigation/Fauna, Compass Rose, Reading/Routing, Rivers Run, Volcanoes/Land, Glacial Environment, Animal Habitats, Biome Differences, Biome Resources, Transportation<br><br>Oaks/Level 2 (Grades 3-5 / ages 8-10) Topics Include: Recreating a Map, Map Measurements, Create/Desert, Climate Graph, Archipelago Population, Map Scale, Darwin’s Dilemma, Wind/Volcanoes, Geography/Culture, Research<br><br>Sycamores/Level 3 (Grades 6-8 / ages 11-13) Topics Include: Rainfall + Land, Climate, The Harbor, Settling a Land, Population Growth, Qs, Project, Volcano, Invasions, Biomes + Culture, Landscape+People<br><br>This class mirrors the one taught at SBC in person in Fall 2025.

Developing Writing Through Grammar with Miss Meaghan

Fall 2025, Wednesdays, 1:00 and 1:40pm, 30 minute classes<br>Maples/ Level 1: Grades K-2 / ages 5-7 <br>Oaks/Level 2: Grades 3-5 / ages 8-10 Oaks<br>Sycamores/Level 3: Grades 6-8 / ages 11-13 Sycamores<br><br>Level 1-2 Topics Include: Nouns, Articles, Adjectives, Verbs, Adverbs, Prepositions, Pronouns, Conjunctions, Interjections, <br>Level 3 Topics Include: Sentence/Fragment, Sentence Types, Run-Ons, Paragraphs, Topic/Conclusion, Pre-write/Draft, Revise, Edit/Proofread, Publish<br><br>Fall 2025: 10 weeks, with 2 teacher sick days built in<br>$5 per class session<br><br>a class dissecting language to better understand its use and logic. We’ll learn about parts of speech and their relationships to one another, or about sentence forms and the writing process, and connect our knowledge with writing.<br><br>This class mirrors the one offered for in-person curriculum day at SBC in Fall 2025.

Private English / Language Arts / Public Speaking Tutoring with Miss Meaghan

Private Music Lessons / Music Production

Group Piano 101 with Miss Erika (Grades 2-5)

Grades: 2-5<br><br>A fun and engaging class where we explore the fundamental skills to play the piano. We will begin with an introduction to the piano, identifying and labeling patterns, right and left hand, white and black keys, posture, and basic rhythm. We will then move into reading the first music notes on the white keys and playing music that uses these keys.<br><br>Prerequisites:<br>- No prior music experience necessary. <br>- Curiosity and interest in music a plus. <br>- Gross and fine motor skills needed to independently press piano keys. If students have fine or gross motor accommodations, I would recommend private lessons where I can provide those accommodations. <br>- Ability to work, virtually, in a small group experience, independently. <br>- Parental support welcome for those who need assistance to work virtually and/or in a small group.

Elementary Music with Miss Erika (Grades K-2)

Grades: K-2<br>$5 per class session<br><br>A fun and creative class where we will explore the fundamental skills and components of music. We will learn about rhythm, the music staff and clef signs, music notes, dynamics, tempo, time signatures, and instrumentation from around the world. We will do all of this through playing and reading.<br><br>Prerequisites:<br>- No prior music experience necessary. <br>- Curiosity and interest in music a plus. <br>- Ability to work, virtually, in a small group experience, independently. <br>- Parental support welcome for those who need assistance to work virtually and/or in a small group.

Fundamentals of Watercolor with Miss Meaghan (Grade: any)

Fall, Winter, Spring: 2 teacher sick days built in<br>$5 per class session<br><br>a class playing with watercolor, learning the basics, and getting comfortable. We’ll learn different techniques (like wet on wet and wet on dry), brushstrokes, and more while making fun artwork you can be proud of. Using our growing knowledge of watercolor supplies, we’ll learn to put these supplies to use, mix colors, make puddles, learn a bit of color theory with complementary colors, use chaos and order to create a piece all our own, use lights and darks in an order that helps us achieve a closer image to our desired result, lift paint, maintain white space, create shadows, learn brush technique, and more.<br><br>Approximate grade level: All beginning watercolorists, including siblings/adults.<br><br>Prerequisites:<br>Able to hold a pencil and control it<br>Able to treat paintbrush safely (not scrubbing it into the page) by pulling it along the page<br>Able and willing to watch and listen to follow along with step-by-step instructions<br>Able to distinguish between shades of a color and different types of shapes<br>Interest in the arts or creativity

Grammar Tells a Story with Miss Meaghan (Grade: K-1+)

Fall 2025, Winter 2026, Spring 2026: 10 weeks, with 2 teacher sick days built in<br>$5 per class session<br><br>a class diving into the inner workings of language in a concrete way, using stories as a portal to understanding. We’ll learn about parts of speech, their relationships to one another, and connect them all together using shapes and storytelling. Using the traditional Montessori grammar symbols, we’ll explore everything from nouns to interjections.<br><br>Approximate grade level: K-1+<br><br>Prerequisites:<br>Able and willing to listen to stories about parts of speech<br>Able to distinguish between shades of a color and different types of shapes<br>Able to decode at least some words phonetically, and is a beginning reader at the least.

Sentence Diagramming with Miss Meaghan (Grade: 2-4+)

Fall 2025, Winter 2026: Spring 2026: 10 weeks each with 2 teacher sick days built in<br>$5 per class session<br><br>a class diving into the inner workings of language in a concrete way, using stories as a portal to understanding. We’ll make it concrete using shapes and storytelling. Using the traditional Montessori sentence diagramming symbols, we’ll explore everything from subjects and predicates to adverbial phrases.<br><br>Approximate grade level: 2-4+<br><br>Prerequisites:<br>Knows and thoroughly understands parts of speech<br>Can construct sentences on their own in some manner<br>Able and willing to listen to stories about sentence structure and grammar

English from the Roots Up with Miss Meaghan (Grade: 3-6+)

Weekly, 2:15-2:45, for 10 weeks, with 2 teacher sick days per season built in<br>$5 per class session<br><br>a class diving into the inner workings of English, exploring how this language comes together from the pieces of many others, while making connections between words and creating our own. Using Greek and Latin roots, we’ll take English apart and put it back together to understand a multitude of words like never before.<br><br>Approximate Grade Level: 3-6+<br><br>Prerequisites:<br>Able to read and understand most of the words they read<br>Able to ask questions about the words they do not understand<br>Able to think critically about things by breaking them down into parts (we'll do lots of this in class)

Share A Story with Miss Christine

5 Wednesdays beginning 7/23/25-$5/week Summer Unit<br>Share A Story ages 3-5 @9-9:40<br>Share A Story ages 6-9 @10:00-10:40<br><br>Half show and tell, half creative writing, 100% a great time! Kids will each bring an object to class, tell us about it, then we will create a story together utilizing their objects to think up a completely unique adventure! It’s a fun filled way to encourage public speaking, creative expression, and out of the box thinking!
